Comprising 30 departments and 16 programs, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is not only the largest campus unit, but the one most likely to directly impact every UB student at some point in their educational career.
The CAS Student Advisement and Services Office assists undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences to plan their academic trajectory, develop goals and successfully complete their college careers.
College of Arts and Sciences advisors are eager to work with every student who needs help, so Virtual Drop-In advising times are available without a scheduled appointment during the drop/add period starting January 26-February 6. You cannot schedule an appointment for advisement at this time.
Advisors will be available for Virtual Drop-Ins M-F, 9:00 AM-11:45 AM or 1:00 PM-3:45 PM.
You can also review the Navigate Video Tutorial on how to the Virtual Drop-in works https://www.buffalo.edu/studentsuccess/succeed/navigate/make-appt/virtual-drop-ins.html
Your advisor will call you on your mobile telephone, using the number listed in HUB, when you are next in the queue (Your academic advisor’s waiting list). Make sure you are prepared to answer a call, even if the number is not recognized by your phone; for example, a private, blocked, or unknown number.
Please make sure that this number is accurate. (You may update your phone number in HUB by referring to this tutorial.) If more than one phone number is listed for you in HUB, the advisor will try your mobile phone first.
All advisors in this office are available to meet with students virtually using Zoom, or over the phone. Some advisors also have in-person availability.
You may make an appointment with your assigned advisor by going to the Navigate site or using the Navigate mobile app. There are also 'Make an Appointment' buttons throughout this website. The modality of the appointment (phone, Zoom, or in-person) is chosen by the student when the appointment is made, depending on the specific advisor's options. If you choose a virtual appointment, the Zoom link will be in the email reminder, or your advisor will send it to you in a separate email. If you choose a phone appointment, the advisor will call the number listed in HUB as your mobile phone, so please check to be certain the correct information is there.
If you wish to speak with an advisor other than the one assigned to you according to your major, or if you need some help making an appointment, you may call the office at (716) 645-6883 during business hours and ask for assistance.
There is one advisor 'on call' for Quick Questions each day (M-F), 1:00-3:00 pm. You may use the Navigate app to make an appointment, and choose the 'drop-in advising' option. This is available only during the designated Quick Question times, and you can only speak with the on-call advisor, not necessarily your assigned advisor. You may also call the office at (716) 645-6883 and ask the receptionist to place you in the on-call advisors's 'queue'.
