Academic year stipends of $23,000 and a full tuition waiver for all full-time, funded PhD students on 10-month academic teaching assistant, research assistant, or graduate assistant appointments.
Competitive assistantships are awarded to both incoming and continuing graduate students. Awards to incoming students are based on a variety of factors associated with their admission materials. Teaching assistantships are granted for a one-year period, renewable up to a total of four years with satisfactory progress.
If you are a minority or the first generation in your family to attend college, and you meet the academic guidelines, you may be considered for an Arthur A. Schomburg Fellowship. To be considered, please submit an additional personal statement as part of your application to the degree program, indicating why you would be a good candidate for this Fellowship.
