Artist Statement

I’m a tinkerer and improviser from Rochester working predominantly with sound and unpredictable electronics in performance, sculpture and installation.

I’m interested in using the tactility and instability of analog electronics to create both interactive and autonomous works, while generally eschewing the cold determinism of computers, software and microcontrollers.
In addition to making things for my own practice, I have spent the last 10 years designing and building tools, instruments and portable sound-art objects for other artists and musicians to work with.

I’ve led electronics workshops for artists and musicians at the Eastman School of Music, Rhizome DC, Pro Arts in Oakland and Hearding Cats Collective in St. Louis.

As a sort of weirdo by negation, I am always interested in hearing from other folks who work between or outside of recognized discipline
