The Dictionary Society of North America (DSNA) hosted its 25th biennial meeting in Buffalo in May 2025.
The meeting brought together scholars and practicing lexicographers to explore the latest in dictionary research and the evolving role of language in society. Participants explored the library’s special exhibit “What Does It All Mean? Exploring the Dictionary,” curated by DSNA co-chair Walt Hakala, associate professor in the UB Department of English showcasing rare books and the rich history of English dictionaries.
The event was co-sponsored by the University at Buffalo Department of English, Department of Linguistics, Humanities Institute, Baldy Center for Law and Social Policy and the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library.
