Elizabeth Scarlett, professor in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, received honorable mention for the Adela Zamudio Essay Prize from Feministas Unidas, a coalition of feminist scholars in Spanish and related fields.

Scarlett was recognized for her article, “Gender and Adaptation in the Filmic Legacy of Emilia Pardo Bazán,” published in “Bulletin of Spanish Studies” (vol. 101, no. 10). The essay explores how the work of Pardo Bazán continues to shape film and cultural conversations about gender, bringing historical literary analysis into dialogue with modern media.
