Set 75 years in the future, “An Unlikely Refuge” imagines the experiences of several climate refugees during their arrival and first year in Buffalo, New York, a so-called "climate haven." Buffalo earned this designation due to several factors, including its proximity to the freshwater of Lake Erie. The play hopes to engage audiences in climate centered conversations as they watch the characters navigate Western New York’s complex climate realities.
