Naila Sahar joins GGS as AAUW Fellow

Naila Sahar returns to her alma mater to continue researching the social and religious activism of Muslim women migrants and refugees in the Middle East and South Asia. Sahar, who earned her PhD as a Fulbright Scholar from the Department of English in 2018 under the guidance of Dr. Carine Mardorossian (Dissertation: "Reimagining Muslim women: Gendered Religious Life and Resistance in the age of Islamaphobia") was awarded a prestigious post-doctoral international fellowship from the American Association of University Women. 

Naila Sahar joined GGS in January 2022 and will be in residence until December 2022. Sahar will be conducting her own research, engaging in the department's activities, and teaching a popular GGS course--GGS 334 Women in the Middle East.
