The Biden administration is tackling the opioid crisis through harm reduction, a new approach to the nation’s drug policies that UB drug policy historian David Herzberg says could save thousands of lives if political opposition doesn’t derail it.

“I don’t know you like that: The Bodywork of Hospitality,” an exhibition that explores how the concept of hospitality has affected our understanding of the human body, will open in November at the UB Art Gallery in the Center for the Arts and the UB Anderson Gallery.

The Department of Global Gender and Sexuality Studies will recognize the 50th anniversary of women’s studies at UB with a two-day conference titled “Visionaries and Troublemakers: Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at 50” on Oct. 28 and 29.

Zurek is a professor of chemistry, College of Arts and Sciences, and an adjunct faculty member in physics and in chemical and biological engineering. Her research uses supercomputers and first-principles calculations to study the electronic structure, properties and reactivity of a wide variety of materials.
