Ryan Adams, PhD Student

Ryan is a PhD student interested in the history of medicine, specifically 20th century US psychology and clinical social work. He is particularly interested in the value of medical authority and medicine as a social institution. Ryan received his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Houston in 2019 (go coogs!), where he was involved in the medical humanities program in the Honors College. Outside of academia, most of Ryan's time is spent playing with his extremely goofy and mischievous rescue dog, Huddie. Ryan adopted him from an animal shelter during the COVID-19 pandemic and he is a fantastic research assistant!
