Graduate admissions follow a centralized review process within the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures. Applications are evaluated by faculty committees that consider academic preparation, research interests and potential for advanced scholarship.

The department accepts applications for both fall and spring semesters on a rolling basis. Priority consideration is given to applications submitted by November 15 for the following academic year.
When completing your online application, include the following materials:
Upload scanned copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for review. English translations are required when applicable.
Include research experience when applicable. Your resume should show how you have applied ideas from coursework, developed research skills and built a foundation for graduate-level work.
Submit three letters of recommendation. Letters should ideally come from faculty members familiar with your academic work.
Your personal statement should explain:

Shortlisted PhD applicants will participate in an interview with faculty as part of the admissions process. Candidates will be contacted by email to schedule their interview.
GRE scores may be submitted but are not required.
