Incoming Transfer Students

COVID-19 Information For Students Entering Fall 2021

All appointments with advisors will be over the phone.

Orientation activities will be online.

Welcome! If you have declared a major within the College of Arts and Sciences, paid your tuition deposit, completed your Orientation Data Form, and submitted your medical / immunization records, your next step is to contact our office for advisement and registration. We will be reaching out to new transfer students by email and phone as you complete the Orientation Data Forms.

How to Make an Appointment

  • Call the CAS Student Advisement and Services Office at (716) 645-6883
  • Identify yourself as a new transfer student

We will arrange a meeting with your academic advisor, either in person or over the phone, to discuss your course schedule. Your advisor will review the articulation of your transfer courses (i.e., how they will count at UB) and your Advisement Report, help you choose courses for the new term, and guide you through the enrollment process so you may then register yourself in classes.

Preparing for Your Appointment

Before your appointment you should review all UB information for new transfer students, including information about registering for classes and the UB Curriculum requirements..

You should have your printed Advisement Report ready at the time of your appointment. If the appointment is by phone and you are able to go online while using the phone, please be prepared to do so. After the appointment you will have all the information you need to register yourself in classes for the upcoming semester.

What to Tell Your Advisor

During the advisement appointment, please tell your advisor about all AP classes and exams you may have taken in high school, even if UB does not yet have the scores. If you have not previously arranged to have your AP exams scores sent to UB, please do so as soon as possible. (They are not provided by your previous institution.) Your advisor will discuss how your AP and other exam credit will count at UB. Advisors can advise and enroll you without the official score reports, but knowing the scores makes the process more efficient. Finally, be sure to let your advisor know about all incoming transfer work.

Once you receive your schedule, you may review your required textbooks online through the through UB HUB. Books may be purchased from the UB Bookstore or another source, and students may wait until they arrive on campus to purchase their materials.

Orientation for New Transfer Students

After you register for classes you can review your required textbooks online through the HUB system and, if you desire, purchase them from any source. You may choose to purchase textbooks after arriving at UB.

You should be signed up to participate in the Orientation program for new transfer students. If you are not signed up, please contact the Orientation, Transition and Parent Programs office at (716) 645-6125.

Please contact us as soon as possible to make an advisement appointment. If you have any questions about this process, please call our office at (716) 645-6883 during regular business hours. We look forward to working with you!
