Upcoming! Saturday, September 14, 2024 7pm FREE
A new performance with people and projection, outdoors at the one of kind Penn Dixie Fossil Park and Nature Reserve.
DIG features Avye Alexandres (UB MFA 2015), Kate Gaudy (UB MFA 2017), Fenna Mandolang, Jodi Lynn Maracle, Ailani Shaw-Graham, and Caroline Doherty (UB MFA 2016).
DIG is a site specific live multimedia performance at Penn Dixie Fossil Park, a 54 acre park near the shore of Lake Erie. In the human time scale, it is on the site of a former concrete quarry. In the geological time scale, it is on an ancient, tropical seabed. Home to countless fossils from the mid-Devonian Period (419-359 million years ago), the park is frequented by fossil hunters, who dig and collect specimens; and stargazers, who come to the park for its dark night sky.
The performance features old friends and new ones, and the team at Penn Dixie have generously allowed us to engage directly with the landscape of this unique park. You'll see people and projection, be serenaded by crickets, and if we're lucky, a few deer may join the audience.
Big thanks to NYSCA for funding this work, to the Buffalo Int'l Film Festival for fiscally sponsoring and presenting it as part of their 2024 programming, and to Penn Dixie for trusting us with their mounds of rock.
