MFA Alum Hired as Art Professor at Emory University

Mary Johnson, a UB 2013 MFA in Studio Art Alum, is now an Assistant Professor of Art at Oxford College within Emory University.

Mary Johnson

Mary Johnson earned an MFA from The State University of New York at Buffalo and is located in Atlanta, Georgia. She makes installations and works on paper that explore the entanglement of humanity and the environment. Recently, she was awarded the Gregory Rackley Grant from Oxford College of Emory University and completed a residency at the ALMA Joint Research Observatory in the Chilean Atacama Desert.

She has shown her work globally including the New York Hall of Science, the Cube Art Museum in Shanghai, Manifest Gallery (Cincinatti), and Box13 (Houston), amongst others. Johnson’s work has been included in the book Collage by Women: 50 Essential Contemporary Artists (Paris & Madrid) and Kolaj Magazine.

Mary Johnson is currently Assistant Professor of Art at Emory University, having taught at Alfred University, the University of North Texas, The Central Academy of Fine Art (Beijing) and as an invited critic to Tsinghua University.
