Cake Zine features fruit painting by MFA Alum Lydia Kegler

2024 MFA Alumnus Lydia Kegler created the oil painting "Mangoes" for publication amidst other art, essays, and more, in Cake Zine.

Lydia Kegler's 2 feet by 3 feet oil painitng "Mangoes" was featured in Cake Zine Volume 7: Forbidden Fruit, 2025.

Forbidden Fruit, explores how fruit fuels temptation and transgression. It’s one hundred and six pages of essays, recipes, art, and more.

Cake Zine is a literary print magazine exploring art, history, and pop culture through food.

Kegler notes that "It’s always a pleasure of mine to paint fruit and making this piece for Cake Zine’s forbidden fruit issue felt just right. It's the  first of my blue fruit paintings to reveal a product sticker. "Mangoes" is paired with Ibrahim Abdulhakeem’s story “The Mango Smuggler’s Lament” in Forbidden Fruit.
