“An Unnatural Diet” – an art installation by artist Alexis Oltmer (UB BFA), commissioned by Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper and funded by NOAA’s Marine Debris Program, is open for permanent exhibition at the Aquarium of Niagara. The piece features depictions of several local or Great Lakes fish and aquatic creatures created out of plastic pollution trash from local freshwater sources and sealed in resin.

In April, MFA '21 graduate Sara Zak and Department of Art Professor George Hughes, were part of a dynamic collaboration named the Working Artists Lab, run through UB's Arts Collaboratory. The program will host visiting artist Cecily Brown and multiple members of the Buffalo arts community.
Gerald Mead (MFA 2008) was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from Niagara University. The degree was conferred during the University's virtual Commencement ceremony on July 26.
