Maximilian Goldfarb received his BFA from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY. He completed his MS in Visual Studies in 2006 at MIT, in the Visual Arts Program, Department of Architecture.

Goldfarb is a maker of unsettled objects and soundscapes presented through methods of installation and transmission: Forms of production include books, object installations, site-based artworks, experimental architectures, and mobile radio programming. His work often includes publication formats as a way of incorporating drawings and visual research process into a distributive aspect of works.

Goldfarb developed Handbook for Human Machines (Pilot Editions) as a part of the Open Sessions laboratory at the Drawing Center, NY. Machines is an image-book and operating manual, examining human/machine tools and architectures. Goldfarb’s more recent book, Remote Viewing: 500 Tableaux, continues this examination of the structures and infrastructures of human-machine anatomies.

Goldfarb has completed works with support from the Harpo Foundation, the Elizabeth Graham Foundation, the Pollack-Krasner Foundation and the Experimental Television Center. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in venues including, Sculpture Center, NY; Stadsgalerij, NL; Western Front, BC; and White Columns, NY. A recent fellow at the MacDowell Colony, Goldfarb is co-author of Architectural Inventions (Laurence King Publishing), an archive of contemporary visionary architectural drawings. He is a collaborator of the Incident Report exhibition platform in Hudson, NY.
