“The UB Bio Department was instrumental in finding my path - great faculty, staff and peers surrounding you is key for a supportive environment. I felt as though my science basis was super strong, I was encouraged to participate in research, and had opportunities to teach others - all things that are at the epicenter of medicine.”

What was your career goal when you graduated, and where are you up to on that journey? My career goal was to attend medical school and find what specialty suits me - it's going great, and even though medical school is definitely tough, it's worth it!

What are you currently working on professionally? I'm currently just trying to do well in school, get experience in clinics and discover what field I'll want to pursue!

How has the Department of Biological Sciences helped you prepare for your goal? The UB Bio Department was instrumental in finding my path - great faculty, staff and peers surrounding you is key for a supportive environment. I felt as though my science basis was super strong, I was encouraged to participate in research, and had opportunities to teach others - all things that are at the epicenter of medicine.

What faculty member or class brings back the best memories? Dr. Sehgal and Dr. Poulin bring back the best memories for me! TAing in their courses and working alongside their teams was always memorable, and showed me the importance of teaching others.

What is your advice to the current/future BIO students? BIO students should definitely take advantage of the resources the department offers - opportunities to get in a lab, TA a course, and so much more are available! All these experiences build a well-rounded graduate and someone who is ultimately sought after by professional programs or occupations.
