Research Area

Prof. Fulcher is a qualitative and implementation scientist whose work focuses on improving assessment and intervention practices for individuals with complex communication needs across clinical and educational contexts. Her research examines how speech-language pathologists make clinical decisions and how evidence-based practices are implemented in real-world service delivery systems. Areas of focus include augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and communication access, clinical decision-making in speech-language pathology, and language assessment practices, particularly for bilingual children and diverse service settings. Her scholarship aims to bridge the gap between research and practice by identifying barriers and facilitators to implementing evidence-based practices and translating findings into practical tools that support clinicians, educators, and service systems.
