David Heppner, Jere Solo Assistant Professor of Medicinal Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry, has been named an associate editor of the American Chemical Society’s (ACS) Journal of Medicinal Chemistry – regarded as the flagship journal for drug discovery research worldwide.
Heppner previously served as a member of the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry early career board where he edited a special virtual issue for the journal coming this fall, titled “Structural Biology in Drug Discovery and Development.” He is also a recipient of the 2025 honor named for the journal’s longtime editor-in-chief, the Philip S. Portoghese Lectureship Award. The honor goes to early-career investigators who have made significant impacts on the field of medicinal chemistry research.
