Thomas C. Behr (PhD ‘00) published a new book, Social Justice and Subsidiarity: Luigi Taparelli and the Origins of Modern Catholic Social Teaching, with the Catholic University of America Press. He recently moved from the University of Houston to the University of St. Thomas to direct their Masters of Liberal Arts program and launch a new undergraduate program called Integrated Humanities.

Erica Elbers (MA ‘21) was accepted into the Dress and Textiles MLitt program at the University of Glasgow.

Elisabeth George (PhD ‘19) won the Organization of American Historian’s 2021 John D’Emilio LGBTQ Dissertation Award.

David Head’s (PhD ‘10) recent book, A Crisis of Peace, received an honorable mention for the Journal of the American Revolution’s Book of the Year award.

Thomas Heinrich recently published a new book, Warship Builders: An Industrial History of U.S. Naval Shipbuilding, 1922-1945, with the U.S. Naval Institute Press.

Elizabeth Masarik (PhD ‘20) won the A. Elizabeth Taylor prize for Best Article Published in the Preceding Year in Southern Women’s History.

David McCaskey (MA ‘17) began a Doctoral Program at UC Riverside and won a Fulbright scholarship to research in Vietnam.

Carlos Santiago (BA ‘16) published an article, “Colony of Cobblestone” in the Contingent Magazine in April 2021.

Shuko Tamao (PhD ‘20) published a piece in the AHA Perspectives, “A Farewell to the Model Minority Myth.” UB’s College of Arts and Sciences is also adopting the online teaching handbook she authored as a PhD candidate at UB.
