UB Choir is a large ensemble typically consisting of 30-60 singers. It is a collegiate-level group meant for those with prior singing experience, preferably prior choral or ensemble singing experience. Typical members are interested in high level ensemble singing, learning to blend and grow their voices in a mature choral environment, and singing challenging repertoire. It is an auditioned group and members are required to have music reading ability. Typical repertoire includes advanced choral music in both 4 and 8 parts, and the group often collaborates with the UB Orchestra to sing large works.
It rehearses twice per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:15-6:15pm, with additional rehearsals scheduled during concert season. It performs several concerts throughout the semester at various venues throughout Buffalo, and has the opportunity to tour.
UB Choir members recently performed with the Choir of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, music icons Kristin Chenoweth and Kenny Rogers, and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Their most recent tour was to New York City in June 2018.
