UB Choir

UB Choir.

The UB Choir is a premier collegiate-level choral ensemble at the University at Buffalo, offering a rich experience for 30–60 singers. Designed for students with prior singing experience, the Choir emphasizes vocal blending, technical growth, and performing advanced repertoire. Members enjoy the opportunity to collaborate with the UB Symphony Orchestra on large-scale productions, as well as participate in independent concerts and tours.

Rehearsals and performances

Rehearsals:

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays: 4:15–6:15 p.m.
  • Additional rehearsals may be scheduled during concert preparation.

Performances

The UB Choir presents multiple concerts each semester at venues across Buffalo, with occasional tours. Recent highlights include collaborations with:

  • The Choir of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge
  • Kristin Chenoweth and Kenny Rogers
  • The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra

Required class registration

UB students must register for one of the following courses to participate in the Choir:

  • Undergraduate Music Majors: MUS 351 (2 credits)
  • Graduate Music Students: MUS 551 (2 credits)
  • Undergraduate Non-Music Majors: MUS 151 (2 credits)

No Audition Required

While auditions are not required, singers should be able to match pitch and have a basic understanding of music.
