The UB Chorus is a welcoming, non-auditioned ensemble designed for students eager to explore their voices, enjoy ensemble singing, and develop their musical skills in a supportive environment. With a membership of 50–200 singers, it’s the perfect starting point for beginners and those with a basic understanding of music.

Rehearsals and performances

Rehearsals:

  • Wednesdays: 3:30–5:30 p.m.
  • Location: Slee Hall, UB North Campus.

Performances:

  • Each semester concludes with a concert, held in December or May at UB’s renowned Slee Hall.

Required class registration

Students must register for one of the following courses to participate:

  • Undergraduate Non-Majors: MUS 121 (2 credits)
  • Undergraduate Majors/Minors: MUS 321 (2 credits)
  • Graduate Students: MUS 521 (2 credits)

Auditions

Auditions are held at the start of each semester and help determine eligibility and placement.

Audition process:

  • Perform your intended voice part on William Byrd’s "Mass for Four Voices" or a similar work.
  • Participate in vocal exercises to assess range, tone-matching, and agility.
  • Sing alongside current members to demonstrate blending ability.
