Concerto Competition Auditions

Thank you for your interest in the UB Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition! This annual event gives Symphony Orchestra members the chance to perform as a featured soloist with the orchestra.

Audition Timeline
  • Auditions take place: Saturday, December 6
  • Accompanist deadline: If you need help finding a pianist, email Prof. Jaman Dunn-Danger at jamandun@buffalo.edu no later than October 30

Audition Guidelines

  • Only current UB Symphony Orchestra members are eligible to audition.
  • You must be registered in MUS 138, 338, or 538 to participate.
  • Prepare the exposition of the 1st movement (if performing a multi-movement work).
  • If it’s a single movement piece, prepare the entire work.
  • You must have an accompanist and must rehearse with them before the audition.

🚫 Do NOT come unprepared or unrehearsed with your accompanist. Everyone deserves a fair and polished audition.
