PhD Composition Students Earn Prestigious Fellowships to Support Dissertation Work

The Department of Music is proud to announce that two of our PhD students in composition have received major fellowships to support their dissertation research in the coming academic year.

Maria Lihuen Sirvent has been awarded a $12,000 Judith B. Kerman Fellowship in Technology and the Humanitiesfrom UB’s Humanities Institute. Her work explores the intersection of sound, composition and emerging technologies, contributing to new ways of thinking about music in contemporary culture.

Thomas Little has received a $10,000 dissertation fellowship from the College of Arts and Sciences, recognizing both the strength of his creative work and the scholarly significance of his research in music composition.

These awards reflect the department’s ongoing commitment to supporting innovative, interdisciplinary research in the arts.
