Department of Music Honors Emelia Bottoms as Outstanding Senior

Emelia Bottoms.

Emelia Bottoms, of Hamburg, N.Y., has been named the Outstanding Senior in the Department of Music. Graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor of music in vocal performance, Emelia has stood out as both a performer and a scholar during her time at UB.

A College of Arts and Sciences Student Ambassador, Emelia has earned multiple awards for her vocal talent, including third place in the 2023 Western New York–Finger Lakes Region National Association for Teachers of Singing competition and second prize in the 2024 American International Music and Art Association's Young Artists International Singing Competition.

Her performance résumé includes work with the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus, Buffalo Master Chorale, Buffalo Opera Unlimited’s production of “Michael Ching’s Speed Dating Tonight!” and UB’s production of Su Lian Tan’s “Lotus Lives.”

She has studied privately with Assistant Professor Tiffany DuMouchelle and Professor Jaman Dunn-Danger, and capped off her undergraduate studies with a senior recital this year.

Emelia isn’t going far—she’ll be back at UB this fall to pursue master’s degrees in vocal performance and library and information sciences.

Congratulations to Emelia on this well-earned recognition!
