Department of Music Announces Scholarships for Graduate and Undergraduate Students

The Department of Music is thrilled to offer an array of scholarships and financial support for incoming students to its undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Graduate Scholarships

  • PhD Teaching Assistantships: Two fully funded positions, including a $23,000 annual stipend for five years (10 semesters) and full coverage of tuition and fees. Exceptional candidates may also be eligible for "top-off" awards, which significantly enhance the yearly stipend.
  • MA and MM Scholarships: Two MA and one MM scholarships are available, each providing $11,330 per year for two years. Recipients are also offered up to 10 hours per week of employment as graders, compensated at $17.50 per hour.

Undergraduate Scholarships

  • Students applying to the BA, MusB (Performance Major), and Jazz Performance Minor programs can receive merit-based awards ranging from $1,000 to $3,000.

These scholarships highlight the department's commitment to fostering academic and artistic excellence while supporting students in achieving their educational goals.

TA Stipend

Effective Fall 2025, the minimum stipend for fully funded, full-time PhD students on 10-month appointments will be $23,690.

The projected stipend increases for future years are outlined below:

  • 2025-2026: $23,690 (10-month appointment)
  • 2026-2027: $24,401 (10-month appointment)
  • 2027-2028: $25,133 (10-month appointment)
