Feldman@100

Morton Feldman.

Morton Feldman (1926–1987), a leading figure of the New York School alongside John Cage, Earle Brown and Christian Wolff, transformed the landscape of contemporary music with his quiet, expansive sound worlds and innovative approaches to notation, duration and timbre. His artistic vision found its fullest home at the University at Buffalo, where, serving as the Edgard Varèse Professor of Music, he helped shape the institution into an international center for experimental music. In Buffalo, he effectively ushered in an era of ambitious new-music activity that permanently reshaped the region’s artistic identity.
