Bio:
Makaela Brass is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at the University at Buffalo. Her research focuses on the intersections of race, gender, and social inequalities, with a particular emphasis on victimization and exploitation. She is particularly interested in examining how these dynamics affect Black girls and women. Her work explores how cultural and social interactions contribute to the formation of social expectations and controlling images, which often leads to the victimization and exploitation of Black girls and women.
