Bio:
Sophia is a first-year doctoral student at the University at Buffalo, with research interests focused on neighborhoods and their intersections with crime, social inequality, and law. Through work in community development, her interest in Urban Sociology and how an individual's place affects their access to resources and future outcomes has become her primary research objective.
Currently, she collaborates with Alachua County, FL, on The Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program, assisting on a comprehensive process analysis of the intersection of criminal justice and behavioral health. This work aims to increase collaboration among criminal justice, mental health, and substance abuse treatment systems, ultimately improving access to mental health and other treatment services for individuals with mental illnesses or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
