Bio: I am a PhD candidate at the Department of Sociology at the University at Buffalo. I'm interested in the intersection of work, urban and environment. Specifically, I study the socio-environmental inequalities resulting from industrial activity. I have worked as an educator and as a labor organizer at immigrant worker organizations and unions in NYC, producing art and education projects to document and raise awareness on workers’ issues. Currently, I study the implications of the Tourism Industry in the Mexican Caribbean. I seek to understand how the state and the private sector intertwine to produce tourism, while co-producing spaces and experiences of disadvantage for low-income and historically marginalized indigenous communities.
