Youlhee Seo is a PhD student in the Department of Sociology at the University at Buffalo. Her research program explores how the intertwined relationship between Asian family culture and social changes confronts or reinforces women’s gender role and how it generates ambivalence in their lifecourses. In her master’s thesis, Youlhee studied how social and family gender norms affect the political consciousness and participation of female college students in South Korea and Japan.
