Program information from the UPM website:
The ancestors of the American artist Noah Breuer owned a textile factory in Dvůr Králové nad Labem. At the beginning of World War II, it was confiscated from them, and most of the members of this Jewish family perished in concentration camps. In 2016, Noah Breuer discovered fabric samples from the family textile factory, which are part of the depository of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. He created an exhibition collection where he combined historical ornaments and contemporary design. He presented it for the first time last year at the Havlíček Villa in Břeclav.
Noah Breuer will explain how the exhibition collection was prepared and what he learned about his family history. The lecture will include a screening of the artworks currently on display in Břeclav. The opening remarks will be given by journalist Judita Matyášová, who has long been involved in the fate of Jewish families and individuals and is involved in organizing the accompanying events for the Noah Breuer exhibition.
The program is in English: interpretation into Czech is provided.
