This year has brought many exciting changes to the Asian Studies Faculty.
Prof. Amanda Kennell has accepted a faculty position at NC State. We wish her all the best in North Carolina! Her departure in early August meant the unfortunate loss of our Director of Undergraduate Studies. Prof. Walt Hakala has kindly agreed to serve as DUS, and we welcome and wholeheartedly thank him for his continued contributions to the Asian Studies Program. We also want to welcome Dr. Francesca Bremner, who will be teaching “South Asian Cinema: Bollywood and Beyond” (AS 333) this semester. An experienced teacher at CUNY Queens with a PhD in Sociology from Columbia University, Prof. Bremner is also a film maker who brings an interdisciplinary approach to the subject of South Asian cinema
