Hiring for spring 2020: Adjunct Instructors in Asian Studies

The Asian Studies Program at the University at Buffalo, SUNY invites applications from qualified instructors to teach one or more 3-credit courses in the field of Asian Studies during the spring 2020 semester. We are seeking instructors for the following courses:

  • AS 229: Contemporary Asian Societies (~35 students, MWF 12-1pm), $3500
  • AS 325: Asia in Motion: Migration and Refuge (~25 students, W 7-9:40pm), $3500
  • AS 329: Politics in Contemporary Asia (~25 students, TU 7-9:40pm), $3500
  • AS 333: South Asian Cinema: Bollywood and Beyond (~60 students, TH 7-9:40pm), $4500
  • AS 338: Islam and Literature (~40 students, MW 5-6:20pm), $3500

A master’s degree in area studies or a relevant field is required; a PhD (or ABD status) is preferred. The appointment will be made for a single semester only; further appointments are contingent upon future budgetary approval. The compensation for teaching each course is listed above. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience who employ interdisciplinary methods. Instructors teaching six or more credits in a semester are eligible for medical and possible additional benefits.
