Application Process

Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early to our UB graduate online application through Slate.

  1. Complete the application. You will choose the appropriate fall term to apply, and choose "Communicative Disorders and Sciences - PhD" from the programs drop down list.
  2. Unofficial transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work.
  3. A minimum of three letters of recommendation by persons familiar with the student’s past academic, clinical, and/or research work, and who can attest to the student’s personal qualifications and potential for satisfactory completion of PhD-level work in the field. It would be helpful if the letters address the following topics:
    • potential to complete the academic and research requirements for a doctoral degree
    • ability to absorb complex knowledge and ideas, to integrate information across disciplines and to think creatively
    • ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written form
    • ability to work independently ability in research
  4. A letter of intent that is a statement of the student’s academic and professional goals, as well as your research interests.
  5. Current Resume or CV.

Application Fee

A $75. graduate application fee is required with your UB Slate application. This must be paid before formal review of your application.
