  • Jason Benedict wins UB Innovative Teaching Award

    UB's Teaching Innovation Award recognizes faculty members who have used new methods and approaches to teaching that have had a demonstrable effect on enhancing student-learning outcomes, including innovative uses of educational technology. As a member of UB Chemistry faculty, Jason has been a celebrated instructor of students at all levels, has improved and enhanced our physical chemical lab for undergraduate students, and has developed a wildly successful US Crystal Growing Competition (running for 8+ year), which has had a profound impact on introducing K-12 students to themes of crystallography, chemistry, and STEM.

  • Bing Gong selected to receive the UB Distinguished Professor Award

    Bing Gong has been selected to receive the UB Distinguished Professor Award! The UB Distinguished Professorship is awarded to faculty who have achieved national or international prominence and distinguished reputations as intellectual leaders through significant contributions in research and scholarship. In Bing’s case, the award recognizes his pioneering research and sustained record of achievement in synthetic organic chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, and biomimetic chemistry. Bing will be recognized at this fall’s Celebration of Excellence. 
  • Steven Diver recipient of the Graduate School's Excellence in Graduate Student Mentoring Award

    Steven Diver has been selected as this year’s (2018-19) recipient of the Graduate School’s Excellence in Graduate Student Mentoring Award! The award recognizes truly exceptional faculty mentoring of graduate students at UB. Steve will be recognized at the upcoming Celebration of Faculty and Staff Excellence.

    Prof. Luis Colón has been promoted to the rank of SUNY Distinguished Professor. The SUNY Distinguished Professorship is awarded to faculty who have achieved national and international prominence and a distinguished reputation in research and scholarship. In Luis’s case, the distinction recognizes his extensive and groundbreaking contributions in analytical chemistry and separations science, and his career-spanning achievements in mentoring and leadership.
