What you'll do

The Honors Program provides a structured pathway for independent research and faculty-guided study. Students in the program:

  • Work with a faculty mentor to develop and complete a senior research project
  • Register for three (3) hours of GLY498 (undergraduate research) or GLY499 (independent study) for two consecutive semesters
  • Develop a research plan early in the first semester of senior year
  • Meet regularly with a faculty advisor for guidance throughout the project
  • Complete a capstone product, such as a thesis paper 

Program timeline

  • Secure approval from a faculty mentor for a senior research project
  • Register for courses in undergraduate research or independent study for two consecutive semesters
  • Develop a research plan early in the first semester of senior year
  • Conduct research and meet regularly with your advisor
  • Complete a capstone project, such as a thesis paper
  • Present research at a conference (strongly encouraged)

Eligibility and requirements

To apply, you must:

  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.25
  • Secure a faculty mentor for the senior research project
  • Submit a written application to the Undergraduate Director with a list of completed major courses with grades and confirmation of faculty mentor approval
