SEAS 360° Certificate of Professional Development, Humanities Extension

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is offering graduate students in the humanities the opportunity to join students in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University at Buffalo to receive free professional development training through the SEAS 360° Certificate of Professional Development program.

This cost free CAS pilot is designed to help graduate students of the humanities develop and improve “power skills,” which are in high demand from employers around the world. To earn a SEAS 360° Certificate of Professional Development, which you can add to your resume, you must complete 25 hours of training. Training hours can be obtained by attending workshops, seminars, online professional development programming, and through approved experiential learning opportunities. Most workshops are typically 1 to 1 1/2 hours in length.

While participation in this program is optional, students interested in pursuing this certificate program must first opt-in.

Earning Hours

  •  Students must be a matriculated graduate degree seeking registered student in a humanities discipline within the College of Arts and Sciences and in good academic standing with an overall UB grade point average of 3.00.
  • In order to receive credit for each workshop, you must attend in-person or online (maximum of 3 online training hours). Students will be required to sign in at each in-person session to verify their attendance. Online module participation will be tracked and validated through login and authentication.
  • Students are responsible for tracking their accrued professional development training hours, however, hours will be verified/validated at the time of completion. Please use the SEAS 360° Tracking Form to log attendance at professional development events. 
  • Both online and in-person opportunities will be made available throughout the year in order to provide flexibility. New workshops will be announced throughout the year via email to students who have opted in to SEAS 360°.
  • Students are encouraged to choose specific workshops that best align with their individual needs and goals.
  • Along the lines of professionalism, students SHOULD NOT register for sessions if they do not intend on being able to show up at SEAS 360° events. Students who register for sessions, do not show and do not notify seas360@buffalo.edu with prior notification, will be dropped from the program.
