The Department of Jewish Thought stands at a critical point as it expands its efforts to attract students and faculty, develop academic and community outreach programs and build our infrastructure. To realize the vision and potential of our department, we seek the help of generous donors.

With your support, we can offer:

  • Student scholarships and fellowships
  • Lectures, workshops and conferences for students and the community
  • Materials for the Samuel J. Friedman library
  • Adult education programs
  • Visiting professorships

Opportunities for naming professorships, lecture series, research funds, fellowships and scholarships are available.

Scholarships and Fellowships

  • The Harold J. and Arlyne G. Levy Award was established by the Levys to support undergraduate students who have demonstrated outstanding scholarship and commitment to the study of Jewish culture and heritage.
  • The Irving M. and Marilyn C. Shuman Scholarship was established by the Shumans to support undergraduate students who have demonstrated outstanding scholarship and commitment to the study of Jewish culture and heritage.
  • The Ruth and Isadore Bob Fellowship was established to support doctoral students working in an academic area that touches upon Jewish culture or Judaism, and made possible through a generous donation by Dr. Sharon Bob Young in honor of her parents.
