Alba Jaramillo
Filmmaker/Producer - Commissioning editor for BBC Reel and Producer for CNN’s Great Big Story
Alba Jaramillo is a director, editor and producer. She directed Motorrodillo (Dok Leipzig ’22, Doc NYC ’22, Bogoshorts ’22), a French-Colombian co-production that has been selected in over 20 festivals worldwide. It won the audience prize at the festivals Rencontres du Cinéma Documentaire - Montreuil and Filmer le Travail and Best International Short at the Festival de Cine y de Derechos Humanos de Vieques. Her first film, Project for a Collection (2015), screened internationally in venues such as Big Sky Film Fest, Festival del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de la Habana and won Best Short Documentary at the Guayaquil International Film Festival. She is an 2022 IDFA Academy, 2022 EURODOC Caribbean alum and a 2021 Sundance Producing Fellow.
She was commissioning editor and a producer for shorts and series for platforms like the BBC and CNN. As a producer for independent documentaries, her work has been supported by Sundance, Points North Fellowship, NBC Original Voices Fellowship and Catapult. After completing studies in literature and art history, she obtained Master in Directing from University of Paris 8 and a Masters of Fine Arts - Media Arts Production at the State University of New York – Buffalo, where she was an instructor of film theory and immigration studies.
