From landmark works that shaped the classical saxophone repertoire to bold contemporary explorations of the instrument’s possibilities, Landon Chang traces the saxophone’s ongoing evolution.
Featuring music by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Paul Creston, Libby Larsen, Claire Vaugrenier, and Landon Chang, this recital moves from the established traditions of the 20th century to the innovative voices of today, revealing the saxophone’s enduring versatility and expressive range.
Landon Chang is an educator, composer, and saxophonist dedicated to the evolving landscape of contemporary music. He serves as Professor of Saxophone at the University at Buffalo and Roberts Wesleyan University, and is on faculty at the Eastman Summer Saxophone Institute. His leadership extends as Assistant Director of the internationally recognized Eastman Saxophone Project and as Founder and Executive Director of Project Nova, a professional saxophone sextet dedicated to innovative programming and community engagement in Rochester, NY.
