The Department of Romance Literatures and Languages and the Melodia E. Jones Endowed Chair for Quebec Studies are proud to announce that the 6th Annual Big Buffalo Quebec Film Festival will be held this spring, April 10, 11, and 12, 2019.
The BBQFF is a UB tradition that showcases Québécois culture through the medium of film and post-viewing discussions. This year, we are honored to host internationally-renowned sound director and sound engineer Sylvain Bellemare, who won a 2017 Academy Award and 2017 BAFTA Film Award for his work on the film Arrival (Denis Villeneuve, 2016). Mr. Bellemare will also give a presentation about his work on the film Incendies (Denis Villeneuve, 2010).

This event is free and open to the public. Films will be shown in French with English subtitles. Each film showing will be followed by a post-viewing discussion in English. This is an academic event devoted to the discovery and understanding of Québécois film.
