Planning Your Internship

To get the most out of the internship experience, careful advance planning is very important. This is especially true for transfer students, students planning to study abroad, and students who have substantial outside commitments such as work or family. With direction and assistance from our internship coordinator, students secure internships that are suited toward their academic and career goals.

Health and Human Services

  • Step 1 – Attend a group internship information session at least one semester before you hope to complete an internship.  Emails are sent to all majors at the start of every semester with timing and registration details for the upcoming information sessions.
  • Step 2 – Make an appointment with our internship coordinator to discuss individual goals and internship site options. Call the office at 645-2245 x0 to schedule.
  • Step 3 – Contact potential sites to inquire about openings and schedule meetings/interviews. Guidance on how to reach out to sites is provided so the process is straightforward and great practice for the future!
  • Step 4 – Once an internship is secured, complete an approval form. The form must be signed by the site, confirming internship duties and learning goals.  Submit the signed form to our internship coordinator. You will then be force registered into SSC 496.
