Bio: Derrick Tolliver is a PhD student and teaching assistant in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at the University at Buffalo. His research examines how bureaucracies communicate knowledge through social outreach programs. He is particularly interested in how the unequal distribution of knowledge creates power imbalances that reproduce inequality and affect mobility for disadvantaged communities.
