Bio: Logan Phlox Wilder is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at the University at Buffalo. Their research focuses on the intersections of work, technology and gender. Their dissertation examines how these forces shape the experiences of transgender and nonbinary online sex workers. In particular, Logan studies how transgender and nonbinary people use gendered personas in sex work to pursue financial and emotional benefits. They also examine how legal policies, website terms of service and social media algorithms constrain and enable online sex workers' labor. Beyond their dissertation, Logan has co-authored research examining depictions of violence in introductory sociology textbooks.
