Bio: Staci Burns is a PhD student and teaching assistant in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at the University at Buffalo. Her research has focused on the organizational structure of addiction treatment systems and interactions within treatment environments. Her interests include the medicalization of deviance, the intersection of behavioral health care and criminal justice and the ways economic inequality reinforces social stigma. She is also interested in using qualitative methods to better understand the experiences of marginalized groups.
