Bio: Yu-An Chen is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at the University at Buffalo. She is interested in investigating how socioeconomic status as well as social and built environment shape health outcomes and pro-environmental behaviors. Her dissertation focuses on the long-term effects of wealth on physical and mental health as well as the mechanisms underlying those relationships among middle-aged and older adults. In other research, She is studying how overweight and weight perception vary by gender and neighborhood characteristics.
