Dr. James D. Walters was born in Hilton, New York. In 2011, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University at Buffalo with a BFA, in Dance. Following his career as a dancer, Dr. Walters pursued an education in Chiropractic at New York Chiropractic College, where he graduated with honors in 2019. As part of as part of THD’s Friday Forum Guest Dance Artists program, Walter will provide a clinic for core work, hips, knees, ankles and strengthening balance via the neurological tracts on Friday, November 19, 2021
As a professional dancer, Dr. James has performed across the United States as well as internationally. He has performed several different styles of dance ranging from ballet to theater dance and has performed in both commercial and concert productions. Some of Dr. Walters’ professional credits include River North Dance Chicago, Lockport City Ballet, New York State Ballet and Princess Cruise Lines. In addition to performing, Dr. Walters is also trained in stage combat and has choreographed dance and stunt choreography for various dance festivals and company productions. While retired as a dancer, Dr. Walters still enjoys teaching and choreographing within his community where he can share his passion for the stage with the next generation of artists.
As a chiropractor, Dr. Walters is active in both his state and national chiropractic associations. As a member of the Student American Chiropractic Association, he served both locally and nationally in several positions including National Chair. During his service, James was proud to help establish and support numerous national projects advocating for his patients and fighting to expand access and availability of chiropractic care for all patients.
Dr. Walters understands the language, and needs of performers, and hopes to keep a close connection with his performing roots through chiropractic care.
