Andrew Delo

Andrew Delo.

2022-2023 Guest Dance Artist

Andrew Delo is a jazz, contemporary, and music theatre artist whose career has taken him throughout Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America.   He just returned from 13 years working in China, where he choreographed China's longest running musical, Avenue Q, in addition to So You Think You Can Dance, Man of Lamancha, My Fair Lady, and countless television shows, working with the NBA, CBA, Hyundai, Swire Group, and Disney.  Additionally, as a director/choreographer, his work has been seen in Elton John and Time Rice's Aida, Spring Awakening, The Rocky Horror Show, and more than a dozen concept-musical productions of his own, with The Future Dance Ensemble in Beijing, China.  He has played leading and supporting roles in Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, The Who's Tommy, Gypsy, and countless others.

While abroad, Mr. Delo served on the faculty of Peking University, instructing theatre, dance, and vocal courses.   He also taught class at the Beijing Contemporary Music Academy, and the world-renowned Beijing Dance Academy.  After seeing how easy it was to use the performing arts to take on the Communist Party of China, to make sweeping social changes in HIV education and treatment, school zoning, and even heating systems, he set his sights on using theatre and dance to change the world. He continues to work with MindLeaps, a wonderful dance program serving at-risk youth in Rwanda and throughout East Africa, and hopes to continue to do so for many years.

Mr. Delo serves on the faculty of Clark Academy Dance Center, and Celebrity Dance Emporium, leading the ballet program at both locations.  He is very, very eager to reconnect with emerging American artists and talents, and create thrilling, thought provoking work that leaves everyone thinking introspectively and uncomfortably.  You change the world when you change your mind...
