2022-2023 Guest Dance Artist
Gaitrie Subryan is a choreographer, dancer, teaching artist, yoga Instructor, and podcast host based in Buffalo, NY. She learned to embrace her Indian roots while studying Psychology at the University at Buffalo, where she took part in dance performances through the student association.
After graduation she focused on keeping dance a part of her life. Gaitrie joined Bollywood Axion and later became a company dancer under the Artistic Direction of Payal Kadakia-Pujji.
Gaitrie has a background in Bollywood, Bhangra, and Garba dance, but it has been her training in Kathak, an Indian Classical dance form from Northern India, which has given her the foundation she needs to make stories come alive using the transformative power of movement, music, and storytelling.
Gaitrie’s passion for movement can also be seen in her practice of yoga. She is a certified youth instructor through Kidding Around Yoga and an adult instructor after she received her RYT 200 certification through East Meets West Yoga studios in 2016.
Gaitrie has taught at the University at Buffalo, and as guest instructor for Nichols Charter, Buffalo State College, Niagara University, and D’Youville College. She has also choreographed for THD's Zodiaque Dance Company 45th annual celebration.
